Telfed to Yad Sara and Jewish Soldier Museum
Hi all,
We are pleased to invite you to our next tiyul, which promises to be most interesting.
Date – Sunday 15th September.
The morning visit is to the 11-storey, modern Yad Sarah House, Jerusalem.
“Beginning with an interactive, multi-media presentation, we will enjoy a memorable and moving experience.”
Our afternoon visit is to the Chaim Herzog Museum of the Jewish Soldier in WWII, at Latrun.
We previously visited in June last year when the Museum was not yet complete. Now all facilities are fully operational.
The Museum has a comprehensive data base. You are thus invited to submit not more than 3 names of direct family who served in WWII.
Please provide full name/s and in which country’s army he/she served. Please submit to Naomi Rapeport at nrapeport@global.co.za, asap.
She will use a few selected names to give a tutorial on how to access the names of family members on the museum website.
Lunch – please bring your own. We will be taking lunch alongside the filling station/restaurant (not kosher)/ makolet, at Latrun. Thus, whereas you can bring your own liquid refreshments, the same can be bought at the aforementioned facilities.
NOTE: Walking -- the walk from the lunch venue to the Museum, is up a not steep incline. (We shall try to arrange golf-cart transport for those who may find it difficult).
The tour of the Museum is approximately 90 minutes, with not much opportunity for sitting.
At the end of the tour, and prior to entering the auditorium, you will be able to purchase some light refreshments from the small cafeteria.
